Would that not indicate two different dates shippingsteel Old Sweats 3.4k Location:Australia Posted 2 July, 2020 You have a British P1907 bayonet made by Wilkinson of London. The prime reference is 'List of Changes in British War Material', the monthly issues re-printed in 5 vols., 1860-1926. ![]() This bayonet was probably made by Elkington & Co., Birmingham and is one of only 20,000 made by them. Original 1855 Lancaster Rifle Bayonet British Crimean War German Blade Sword. We know this from the maker's mark "Woolley & Deakin" on the. Click to open image! The blade was 17 inches (43.2 cm) long. Their marking had the Royal Prussian crown above the word Erfurt. ![]() The Scabbard was purchased at a different auction, and has the "broad arrow" British War Department stamp on the leather beneath the frog stud. ![]() I cleaned a little grime off recently and found some markings on the base of the blade. The variations in inspection stamps contains enough material for a book in itself. ![]() I can't say I've seen one with any markings on them, no NSN, no dates, no makers details, nowt on them at all but I've no idea if these are issue items or just commercial items released onto the market by the makers for whatever reason.always seem to be a lot of near new/ mint condition. Wilkinson was not one of these, their focus no longer on government contracts. British, Indian Made, Sappers & Minors Bayonet, Unit Marked Price: $150.00 Item #50941.
